THE Chief Minister presenting the loyal service medal to a lady recipient at the event held at the grand ballroom of Kingwood Resort Mukah yesterday.

MUKAH:  Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg yesterday presented the state’s Loyal Service Medals (Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia) to 433 individuals comprising state’s civil servants.

Mukah Division Resident Awang Johari Awang Mustapha, headed the list of recipients of the medals in a ceremony held at Kingwood Resort, here.

The Resident of this fast growing division received the accolade following his 30 years of dedicated and loyal service with the state.

State of Sarawak Public Service Commission (PSC) Secretary, Haji Adana Haji Jed,  who had been serving for 24 years was also among the recipients.

From the aforesaid figure,  the longest serving officers were the  two policemen who had been serving for 42 years each, namely DSP(rtd)  Bakar Ak Sebau and L/Cpl (rtd) Ismail bin Gibam.

Others who served for over 40 years were three  staffers from Sarawak Broadcasting Department Julia Tan Hee Hung(41 years of service), Dollah Bin Che (41 years) and Rapali ak Ampi (40 years) and Mejun ak Abang (40 years) from the Public Works Department (JKR).

Meanwhile, the Education Department had  the highest number with 111 recipients and followed by State Health Department with 86 recipients; Royal Malaysian Customs (35); State Fire and Rescue Department (30); Matu/Daro District Council(26); Dalat/Mukah District Council (22); Agriculture Department(17); JKR (14); Prison Department(14); PDRM(14); Immigration Department(10);   National Registration Department(9); Information Department(8); Broadcasting Department (6);  Land and Survey Department (6); Drainage and Irrigation Department (6); PSC (6); Sarawak Forestry Department (5);  Youth and Sports Department (4) and Mukah Resident’s Office with four recipients.

Also present at the function were Minister of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah; State Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, assistant ministers, local people’s representatives, heads of department and local community leaders.

The event which was the second to be held for this year involved the recipients from twenty government departments and agencies(nine state departments/agencies and 11 federal’s).

The occasion was the first official function of the Chief Minister in this division since taking over the helm recently.
