37 police reports lodged so far on the FB account holder who insults Christianity

KUCHING: As of Monday, 37 police reports have been lodged throughout Sarawak against a Facebook account holder for a video she uploaded, allegedly insulting Christianity.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail disclosed that all the reports had been submitted to the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters and investigations would be carried out by Bukit Aman Classified Criminal Investigation Unit.

“Based on the facts of the case, it was found that the suspect had uploaded a video of her speech through her Facebook account under the name, Puteri Mujahidah Wan Asshima Kamaruddin on March 11 at 9.23am.

“The suspect had expressed dissatisfaction with the High Court’s decision to allow the word ‘Allah’ to be used in the Bible. The suspect also called on Malays and Muslims to go against the issue as well as issue a statement that all churches are to be closed.”

Investigations are being conducted under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 (Improper use of network facilities or Internet network services).

The public are advised to be cautious in issuing any statement so as not to offend other religions and races.

“If anyone is not satisfied with a matter, they should use proper channels and follow the law,” said Aidi.
