KUCHING: After years of uncertainty, individual land titles for 36 house owners in Taman Kalien Phase Four have finally been issued by the Land and Survey Department (LSD) Sarawak.
Political secretary to the Premier, Kho Teck Wan, said the process began after several house owners sought assistance in obtaining their land titles.
Despite the matter falling outside the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, she said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian had tasked her with assisting all affected homeowners.
“I engaged with the developer, LSD Sarawak, and Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap to expedite the process.
“The developer, Yong, inherited the issue following the passing of her father and took on the responsibility of working closely with the authorities to secure the titles.
“The signing of the Memorandum of Transfer (MOT) today marks the handover of land titles by the developer to the house owners,” she said in a statement.
She made the statement after witnessing the signing of the MOT, alongside Yap at a legal firm today.
Kho, who is the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Women chief, assured that all homeowners from Phase Four will be notified by the legal firm to complete the MOT signing starting next week.
Once signed and the stamp duty is paid, the land titles will be held by banks until the mortgages are fully settled.
On the same note, Kho asserted that the developer had worked out a phased payment plan with the LSD Sarawak, beginning with Phase Four, followed by Phases Five, Six, Two and Three.
She added that the sequence is designed to ensure sufficient cash flow for the developer to complete all land title payments.
As such, she urged house owners from the remaining phases to remain patient as the process continues, assuring them that efforts are ongoing to ensure all titles are issued in due course.
“SUPP will continue to coordinate with the developer and Land and Survey Sarawak for the issuance of the individual land titles for Phases Five, Six, Two and Three of Taman Kalien,” she asserted.
