KANOWIT: A total of 35 primary schools in the district here will be receiving the Raspberry Pi computers.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) in a news report today (Aug 12), Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technology Research Dr Annuar Rapaee said this was the initiative of the Sarawak government to provide early exposure to digital learning for the students.
“In Kanowit, we will give this computer to 35 primary schools. The provision of this computer is also not the same as the previous one because our purpose is to expose digital learning to students from an early stage,” he said.
Dr Annuar said after officiating at the Raspberry Pi device handing over ceremony to the schools on Wednesday.
Earlier in his speech, Dr Annuar who is also the Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing, said that the use of the computer facilitates teaching and learning sessions without relying entirely on the Internet connection.
“This computer is in the form of internet-in-a-box which means teachers can directly download relevant items for students to use.
“This initiative can help rural students from being left behind in this digital age,” he said.
Also present then were Ngemah assemblyman Alexander Vincent, Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong and Kanowit District Education Officer Bugin Ragoon.
