KUCHING: Police compounded 32 individuals in the state on Saturday (Aug 15) for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said the police would continue to enforce the SOPs including the use of face masks and social distancing in public places.
“Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with 18, followed by Kota Samarahan with nine compounds.
“Two compounds were issued in Miri and one compound each were issued in Betong, Sarikei and Limbang,” the statement read.
On the SOP compliance monitoring, the SDMC said the patrol teams had inspected 1,624 premises throughout Sarawak.
They were restaurants (321), supermarkets (155), banks (111), places of worship (93), public markets (77), leisure places (51), hawker stalls (46), government offices (44), construction sites (16), factories (12) and others (698).
The committee also said 1,068 vehicles had been inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts; Two of the roadblocks were in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
