BINTULU: A total of 30 students from Bintulu Vocational College took part in the basic coaching clinic for fencing which was held here over the weekend.
The one-day clinic was organised by the Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) led by MSNS sports co-ordinator for fencing, Eric Filbert Sihat in collaboration with the Sarawak Fencing Association.
Also present at the event was Sarawak Fencing Association (PSLPS) secretary, Affandi Ahmad.
In his welcoming speech, Eric said the coaching clinic is one of the efforts of the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) to extend sports development training centres in Sarawak by exposing them to the basic knowledge of the sport as well as its aim at finding new talents.
“I’m confident that the participants who join the clinic will be able to use the opportunity to pick up the experience and work on their initial step to become a strong and skilful athletes in fencing,” said Eric.
PSLPS secretary, Affandi Ahmad said the clinic was the fifth one held in Miri, Bintulu, Limbang and Lawas and involved a total of 500 students.
Meanwhile, PSLPNS plans to hold similar clinics in SM Science Miri and Miri National Skills Institute (IKBN) Miri on April 27.
