KUCHING: Police have issued 26 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the police will continue to carry out operations to enforce the SOPs in public places and those who are found violating, will be issued a compound notice on the spot.
Lawas recorded the most compounds issued with 10, followed by eight in Padawan, five in Kuching, and three in Miri.
“Apart from that, the Ministry of Local Government issued 132 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils,” the committee said.
On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,635 premises throughout Sarawak.
These include 286 restaurants, supermarkets (234), banks (129), places of worship (95), public markets (77), government offices (71), leisure places (51), hawker stalls (33), construction sites (19), eight factories, and others (632).
Under Ops Benteng, 1,294 vehicles were inspected through seven roadblocks in six districts — two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
