BAU: A total of 24 development projects amounting to RM150 million for phase one in Tasik Biru constituency will be carried out under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).
Deputy Minister for Transport, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said that the development of all the projects will involve five implementing agencies, namely the Public Works Department (JKR), Department of Irrigation and Drainage Sarawak (DID), Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), Bau District Council and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB).
He said JKR has nine projects worth RM22mil; two projects under DID worth RM32mil followed by two projects under JBALB worth RM8mil. Meanwhile, Bau District Council will be handling nine projects worth RM86.5mil and two projects under SEB worth RM2.5mil.
“This RM150mil project is a joint effort, and the purpose of this meeting is to inform every community leader and tribal chiefs (KMKK) about what will be developed in their respective areas,” said Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman, at the GKCDA coordination meeting held recently.
Also present were GKCDA special officer Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik, Bau District officer Constantine Gerald David Jonas, Bau District Council secretary Ong Chin Ping and Bidayuh Temenggong Datuk Austin Dimin Niyon.
Meanwhile, Ik Pahon urged KMKKs and members of the Bau District Council to share information about the development project under GKCDA with the residents of their respective villages.
He hoped that the fieldwork could commence early next year after issues related to land acquisition, bill of quantities (BQ) and project components have been resolved this year.
