SERIAN: A total of 235 Heads of Households (KIR) from two villages in the Tarat constituency received post-flood aid.
The two villages are Kampung Sebemban and Kampung Tanah Puteh.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn presented the aid in the form of mattresses and pillows in a ceremony held recently.
Of the total, 82 aid recipients were from Kampung Sebemban, while 153 recipients were from Kampung Tanah Puteh, which was also affected by the flood.
Sagah, who is also Tarat assemblyman, expressed appreciation to all the agencies involved in assisting the flood victims during the recent flood disaster.
In addition to the government, four non-governmental organizations (NGOs) – the Rotary Club of Kuching Central, the Rotary Club of Kuching, The Malaysian Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Rotaract Clubs of Swinburne Sarawak and SEGI Sarawak – contributed by donating mattresses and pillows to the flood victims.
Both Kampung Sebemban and Kampung Tanah Puteh were not only affected by the flood but were also cut off from access as the main road to the village was submerged, preventing vehicles from entering the villages.
