23 Malaysian referees to join FIFA

KUALA LUMPUR: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced today that 23 local referees have been selected by FIFA’s International Referees Panel to be registered as FIFA Referees this year.

In an official statement on Facebook, FAM said the FIFA list comprises 19 male officials – six referees, eight assistant referees, three futsal referees and two beach soccer referees – and four female officials comprising one referee, two assistant referees and one futsal referee.

Mohd Nazmi Nasaruddin, a FIFA referee since 2016, leads the list of six male referees. The others are Razlan Joffri Ali (since 2018), Tuan Mohd Yaasin Tuan Mohd Hanafiah (since 2020), Usaid Jamal (since 2022), Kamil Zakaria (since 2024) and Izzul Fikri Kamaruzaman, who is newly listed this year.

The assistant referees are Zairul Khalil Tan, Muazi Zainal Abidin, Arif Shamil Abd Rasid, Farhan Abdul Aziz, Shafiq Ahmad Said, Nadziran Aziz, Kesava Raj and Saharudin Isahak.

The futsal referees are Helday Idang, Norafendy Norhayalan and Faiz Jamaluddin while the two beach soccer referees are Amirul Aizat Lodin and Syahir Shaharul Nizam, who have been registered since 2023.

The four female referees listed by FIFA are Ain Izzaty Zainal as a main referee (since 2024), and Nur Akmal Anuar and Munirah Ha Ali (assistant referees), and Atikah Janah (futsal referee).

“This latest development aligns with Phase 2 of FAM’s F:30 Strategic Plan 2023-2026, aimed at producing more FIFA-accredited referees, including female referees,” the statement added. – BERNAMA
