KUALA LUMPUR: The management of the Federal Territory (FT) Mosque hopes the implementation of the 1Mosque 1Policeman (1M1P) programme will have a positive impact especially for members of congregation as well as public properties placed in mosques compound particularly the vehicles.
Its grand imam Ehsan Mohd Hosni described the initiative from the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) as one of the efforts to curb crimes especially at mosques and other houses of worship.
“We really appreciate this effort and it is one of the paradigm shifts made by the RMP to ensure members of the congregation are at peace and comfortable while performing their religious obligation in mosques,” he said in the RB Extra segment of the Bual Bicara, a talkshow produced by the Bernama News Channel here Friday night.
Ehsan said that the RMP’s initiative should be implemented as soon as possible following incidents such as theft at peak times during Friday prayers as well as Tarawih prayers during Ramadan.
Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim was reportedly said that each of the 72 mosques under the purview of the Kuala Lumpur Police would be represented by a police officer through the 1Mosque 1Policeman (1M1P) programme. – Bernama
