WEARING FACE MASK IN PUBLIC PLACES

KUCHING: Police issued 17 compound notices to individuals for not wearing face masks in public places on Wednesday.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said, Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with nine, followed by Samarahan and Simunjan with three each, while Betong and Sarikei each recorded one case.

SDMC said police would continue to enforce the standard operating procedures (SOPs) including the use of face masks in public places.

The committee also noted that police had arrested 10 Indonesian men at a roadblock in Simunjan for not having written permission from the police to move between zones.

On the inter-zone travel restriction in Simunjan and Sri Aman, the police recorded a total of 1,733 vehicles that passed between zones (1 and 2) from Aug 11 to 12.

Of the number, 1,732 had obtained travel permission while one was ordered to turn back for not having a travel permission letter.
