MUKAH: About 150 people from all walks of life here recently participated in a roadshow on teenage pregnancy.
The participants comprisedschool principals, headmasters/headmistresses, heads of departments and local community leaders.
Held at Kingwood Resort Mukah, the event, dubbed “Mukah Division One Stop Teenage Pregnancy Committee (OSTPC) and Social Laws”, was officiated by Tellian State Assemblyman, Yussibnosh Balo, who represented Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah.
The programme was organised by the Sarawak Social Development Council, State Welfare Department (SWD), Sarawak Women Development and Family Department in collaboration with the Mukah Resident Office and Mukah Division Welfare Department.
The State Health Department presented a talk entitled “Introduction of OSTPC and Teenage Pregnancy Management” while Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak touched on “Application Management for Customs Based Weddings.”
The State National Registration Department Child gave a talk on “Birth Certificate for Teenage Pregnancy Case while the State Education Department touched on “Management In School Teenage Pregnancy Case”.
Other talks touched on the Children Act (Amendment) 2016, Out of Wedlock Children Case Management, Domestic Violence Act (Amendment) 2017(SWD-Enforcement), Sexual Crime Towards Children Offences Act 2017 and OSTPC Related Case Law Management (State Contingent PDRM) and Violence towards Women and Children Case Management (State Women and Family Department).
The event, held from 8.00am to 5.00pm, closed with a forum session.
