14 summonses issued for various offences

BAU: Traffic police issued 14 summonses for various offences during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Motosikal’ last night (Jan 18).

According to Bau police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer, the operation was conducted from 5 pm along Jalan Redeems Singai and around Bau Market.

During the operation, eight traffic policemen inspected a total of 35 individuals from 25 motorcycles and issued 14 summonses for various offences.

“Among the most common offences detected were failing to possess a driver’s license (four summonses), lack of side mirrors (four), modified exhaust systems (four), license plates not in accordance with regulations (one), and not wearing a helmet (one).

“In addition, two motorcycles were confiscated under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 in the Redeems Singai area,” he said in a statement.

In light of this, Dr Daram advised road users, especially motorcyclists, to always adhere to the law and prioritise personal safety.

He added that the police welcome any information from the public regarding street thug activities, which can be channelled through 082-763311.
