KUCHING: The “Matang Warriors Tropical Rainforest Challenge” cross-country running event is set to take place on July 14 at the Jalan Sungai Tengah Dewan SUPP Matang, marking the 111th anniversary of the Scout Association of Sarawak.
Organised by the Scout Association of Sarawak and Eco Run, in collaboration with the Kuching City Scout Council and the City Joggers’ Club (CJC), the event anticipates 1,200 participants.
Chairman of the organising committee Lee Kong Shin highlighted the event’s popularity over the past two years and expects a robust turnout this year.
“The event coincides with the Scouts’ anniversary, with approximately 20,000 Scouts from across Sarawak joining the activities.
“The trail run comprises four categories with varying registration fees, including 3km, 6km, 12km, and 30km routes. All participants receive a competition T-shirt, medal, insurance, electronic certificate, and meals and drinks.
“Despite the setback of a fire at the Sarawak Scout headquarters earlier this year, plans for the event remain unchanged, reflecting the resilience of the Scouting community,” he said
Registration is open until June 8, with race pack collection scheduled for July 12 and 13 at the Sarawak Scout Headquarters.
