KUCHING: Twelve undocumented Indonesian immigrants were deported back after their attempts to enter Sarawak illegally last Sunday (Dec 13) were foiled.
The First Infantry Division disclosed there were four incidents of immigrants attempting to enter Sarawak from 1.25pm to 11pm at two sectors — Kandaie and Tebedu.

The first incident happened at 1.25pm in the Kandaie sector where a patrol team managed to detain three Indonesians trying to enter Sarawak. Inspections found that the trio were from Saparan, Indonesia.
“Meanwhile the second incident also occurred in the Kandaie sector; an army team detained two Indonesians walking on an oil palm plantation route at 2.30pm.
“Examinations found that the duo from Karangan, wanted to head to Lundu for work,” a military spokesman said.
The third incident happened at 3.05pm, also in the Kandaie sector, where two more Indonesians were detained after being spotted walking on an oil palm plantation route.
After being examined and interrogated, the duo, are also from Karangan, wanted to head to Kampung Selampit to work.
The division said the fourth incident occurred at 11pm in the Tebedu sector where five Indonesians were detained after being seen walking from the border.
Inspections found that all of them, who did not have any valid travel documents, wanted to go to Sibu to work.
All the foreigners, who were considered as illegals, comprised eight men, two women and a child. They were deported to their country after police reports were lodged.
