BINTANGOR: Twelve residents were left with nothing but clothes on their back after three wooden houses were razed to the ground in Muara Bunut today (Sept 1).

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 9.21 am incident as the residents were not at home during the fire.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Bintangor station was dispatched to the scene, about 16km away, after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, the team confirmed that the houses were beyond saving and performed the extinguishing deed using water sourced from a fish pond.

The team successfully prevented the flames from spreading to other houses and the fire was brought under control at 10.27 am.

Once the situation was deemed safe and there was no risk of reignition, the team ended the operation at 11.31 am.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
