KUCHING: Ten individuals were each issued with a RM1,000 compound for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Wednesday.

Kuching district police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said the ten offenders —three of which are premises owners — were issued the compound during inspections conducted around Kuching, namely Muara Tabuan, Hakka Avenue and Bandar Baru Samariang on Tuesday night.

“During the first inspection, five individuals were found violating the SOPs for not practising social distancing.

“Another inspection found three premises owners also violating the SOPs for not providing a thermometer, a logbook and hand sanitisers.

“In another inspection, it was found that another two individuals also failed to comply with the SOPs by not providing information and temperature checks,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

The 10 individuals — compromising nine men and one woman between the ages of 17 and 40 — were each slapped with a compound and were handed over to Kuching IPD.

Awang Din also stated that all 10 individuals who violated the SOPs were compounded in accordance with the Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No. 7) Regulations 2020.

Additionally, Awang Din hopes that the public will always follow the government’s recommendations to curb the spread of Covid-19.
