KUCHING: Bottom club Sarawak ‘B’ wasted their chance again as they drew 1-1 in a match against 10-man Melaka United during their 2017 President Cup match last Thursday.

The stalemate means the Under-21 youth team still sit at the bottom of Group A table, with only five points collected from five draws after ten matches.

It took only nine minutes for team captain Nor Azizi Ramlee to put the hosts in front and they managed to hold the lead until the first half at State Stadium, Petra Jaya.

Melaka United’s Muhammad Najmudin Samat meanwhile in the 28th minute was sent off by the referree for a foul.

But despite being reduced to 10-man, Melaka through Muhammad Shamerul Abdul equalised in the 68-minute after he easily converted a penalty.

“Absolutely a frustrating game especially being denied a full three points again despite playing with a man-advantage,” said frustrated head coach S. Veloo after the match.

“The way we’d played today were totally different from our previous matches,” said Veloo as he commented on the team’s new faces – Filemon Anyie Standly and Amar Muaz Zamri – who were being introduced for the first time.

“So many chances created but we failed to score more goals and finish the job,” he added.

In the second period, Sarawak ‘B’ continued to test the visitors’ defence and pressed hard until the closing stages but poor finishing left them frustrated in their search for the first win of the season.
Veloo believes his youth squad would have been win had they been more clinical in front of goal.
Meanwhile, their next action will be against UiTM in an away match today.
